Ex-ISRO Chief Decries Blacklisting, Says Agency ‘Gone to the Dogs’ [IANS]

Madhavan Nair, former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), railed against the Indian government’s move to blacklist him and three other scientists, calling it “totally unjust,” the IANS news service reported.

India barred Nair from holding any government positions in the wake of a controversial deal in which Antrix Corp., the commercial arm of ISRO, allotted S-band spectrum to Devas Multimedia in violation of rules.

"Even in an autocratic/military regime an opportunity would have been given to the person who has been blacklisted,” Nair said. “No such opportunity was given to me. I am shocked at the order.”

He also accused current ISRO Chairman K. Radhakrishnan of pursuing a personal agenda. “ISRO has now gone to the dogs,” Nair said, and the chairman is resorting to actions like the blacklisting to divert attention from his failures in leading the agency.
